The journey begins with an early departure from M’hamid. After several hours of walking, lunch is enjoyed in the shade of acacia trees before continuing across the desert. By late afternoon, the group reaches the tomb of the marabout Sidi Naji, where camp is set up for the night. The evening is spent under the stars or in a traditional nomad tent.
The trek continues across a tamarisk-filled hamada, gradually approaching Erg Zahar, one of the region’s most impressive dunes. From its heights, breathtaking views open over some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Moroccan desert. Camp is established nearby for the night.
The day begins with a walk across the vast dunes of Erg Zahar, heading toward Erg Smar, an ancient village abandoned and buried in sand after years of drought. Lunch is enjoyed under the tamarisk trees before continuing through smaller dunes in the afternoon to reach Erg Sedra. Here, camp is set up for the night.
This stage leads to Chegaga, the largest dune system in the region, with peaks rising to 300 meters. Here, travelers discover the nomadic lifestyle while enjoying the grandeur of this immense sea of sand. The camp is located at the foot of the dunes, offering the perfect setting to experience the desert’s magic at both dawn and dusk.
After a morning walk, the caravan pauses for a rest at Maihat Assolah before continuing to the sacred oasis of Oum Lâalag. The day ends at Oued Laatache—the “Wadi of Thirst”—where camp is set up for the night.
The trek continues through landscapes rich with desert plants. Around midday, the group reaches Telhatine for lunch and rest near a well. In the afternoon, the journey resumes toward Kraat Jemal, where the evening is spent in camp beneath a starlit sky.
The final stage brings a change of scenery as the caravan makes its way back toward M’hamid. After five hours of walking, the trek concludes with a well-deserved rest in camp, marking the end of an unforgettable desert journey.
